Women’s Health and Fitness Day

5 Ways to Celebrate

Womens Health and Fitness Day

On Wednesday, September 24th, women across American will be partnering together to increase awareness about women’s health issues. The 13th annual Women’s Health and Fitness Day is the nation’s largest national health promotion day for women and is steadily gaining in popularity.

This national event brings women’s health to the forefront and encourages women to take control of their health and fitness activities. Events typically include: fitness walks, exercise demonstrations, health fairs, and health information workshops. Over 1,000 groups around the country are expected to participate – and you can too!

Here are top five ways you can partner in this awesome event:

1. Sign up!

2. Grab a friend (or make a new friend) and get there!

Women need support in order to reach and achieve their goals. Bring a friend along to share in this event. Once in a while, it’s nice to just have a ladies’ day out where you can participate in fitness activities and learn about ways to keep fit while staying busy.

3. Set new fitness goals.

Are you still trying to lose those five extra pounds? Let September 24th be the start of your fitness resolution year. Let it encourage you to take time out of your busy schedule to focus on your body and to keep it healthy, strong, and fit. Be specific in your goal setting. Set a schedule that can easily be adapted if you end up having to skip the gym on one or two days. Almost any exercise is good exercise. It will increase your blood flow circulation, give you more mental clarity, and lift your spirits.

4. Spread the love.

Let others know about your fitness goals. You’ll find yourself being encouraged by your friends in more ways than one. One woman who started talking with her friends about her fitness goals found herself getting unexpected support to continue her diet and exercise plan. Every time she began to feel discouraged about her current results, she would think about quitting and starting up again at a later date. Her friends, however, never knew that she was thinking about quitting. Every time they saw her, they commented on how slim she looked and asked her how her diet was going. This gave her the needed confidence to press on and complete the process. In the end, she achieved her goal. Without the support of her friends, she would have quit and would have never gotten the support that she needed.

5. Encourage others to join in.

Motivating others can be a great source of motivation for yourself. LifeTime Fitness (a national fitness center) has honed in on this little secret. With its 90-day challenge offered in the spring and in the fall, it places participants into groups that meet weekly to workout together and to drive each other to success. Each group is outfitted with three trainers who support and encourage you to achieve your fitness goals. Meeting with others who are passionate about getting results is a great way to achieve the results that you desire.
Women give so much and ask for so little in return at the expense of their bodies. Women’s Health and Fitness Day is a needed break from the daily grind and routine of life. Women can step away from their normal responsibilities and focus on their bodies. This event is sure to inspire women to be proactive about their health and fitness.
