Baptist Health Care in Charlotte

Baptist Health Care in Charlotte

Seniors and family caregivers looking for Baptist assisted living in Charlotte have a wealth of options. The Queen City and its suburbs are served by Baptist-affiliated assisted living communities as well as a sliding-scale professional and pastoral counseling center.

Counseling for all ages and life stages

The challenges of aging are easier to handle with someone to talk to. The Counseling Center at Charlotte is a project of the Metrolina Baptist Association, a group of several dozen Baptist congregations in greater Charlotte. The Counseling Center’s certified pastoral counselors, licensed professional counselors, and social workers offer Christian-based help to anyone in need. Among the topics the Counseling Center deals with are aging, living with a chronic or terminal illness, depression, and bereavement. Clients can also take coaching sessions to help clarify their goals for life in retirement.

The main Counseling Center at Charlotte office is inside the Metrolina Baptist Association building in Uptown, and there are satellite offices located in Concord, Albemarle, and Shelby.

Baptist senior living in South Charlotte

Southminster in South Charlotte offers a continuum of care in a setting that encourages activity and lifelong learning. The community was co-founded by Myers Park Baptist Church and Christ Episcopal Church and is open to all seniors regardless of religious affiliation. Some of the residents are retired, some are still pursuing their careers, but all have the option to take part in a seemingly endless list of activities such as swimming in the indoor heated pool, woodworking in the workshop, classes, and gardening.

The surrounding neighborhood also offers leisurely fun and healthcare convenience. Southminster sits near Quail Hollow and Carmel country clubs and the Carolina Pavilion Shopping Center, which features a 22-screen movie theater. It’s also located just north of the Carolinas Medical Center Pineville, which is home to Novant Health Pineville Primary Care, Carolinas HealthCare, and the Levine Cancer Institute at Pineville.

Suburban Baptist senior communities

Baptist Retirement Homes of North Carolina runs two communities in the greater Charlotte area. Taylor House in Albemarle, about an hour’s drive northeast of Charlotte, caters to its residents with daily housekeeping, home-cooked meals, personal laundry service, and transportation. As a continuum of care home, residents can transition from independent to assisted living or skilled nursing as needed. Memory care and respite care are also available at Taylor House, and financial aid is available to qualified residents.

About halfway between Albemarle and Charlotte, the Gardens of Taylor Glen in Concord is a comprehensive care community that welcomes independent, active seniors as well as those who need daily assistance, skilled nursing, and memory care. The hundred-acre campus features a stocked lake for fishing, a putting green, gardens, and walking trails. Apartments at the Gardens of Taylor Glen range from 650 to 1500 square feet, and on-site lodging and meals are available for visiting family and friends.

Take the time to explore Charlotte’s Baptist senior living options and see what’s right for you and your family, whether that’s living at home with pastoral counseling support, moving into a city campus that puts you close to the action, or retiring to a quiet suburb.
