Home Care in Rome, GA

According to various studies, it has been shown that approximately 12 million individuals in the United States are receiving some iteration of home care covering a wide range of conditions. These conditions have been shown to range from long-term healthcare to permanent disability and terminal illness. And this number is expected to be on the upswing, as the fastest growing demographic in the country is the 70 and older demographic. As such, it stands to reason that that there will be a rise in the number of stressed-out families faced with the decision of providing some form of care to their golden aged love ones when the time for such care is needed. Thankfully, Rome, Georgia has a wealth of home care options available that enable golden agers in need of care to receive the crucial aid that they need in the comfort of their own home.

Rome at a Glance

As one may suspect, Rome was indeed named after the capital of Italy. The reason this city of about 36,000 residents shares its name with the major European city is because, like the original, it was built on seven hills. This hilly landscape provides Rome with one of the region's more distinctive aesthetics, and its beauty is further enhanced by the presence of the Etowah and the Oostanaula Rivers, whose confluence forms the Coosa River.

While Rome took full advantage of these waterways to build up a strong economy based on trading its rich cotton crop, the modern-day version of the city runs on a decidedly diverse economic landscape that is buoyed by the presence of manufacturing, education, technology, and even tourism. The city has also developed a sterling reputation for being a regional hub for healthcare. This tidbit could be of particular interest to those that may be worried about the level of healthcare that may be available to them once they move here, as they can take assurance that the care they will receive will be nothing short of exemplary.

It should also be noted that Rome has a reputation for being a cost-effective place to live. It has a cost of living rate that is considered to be a little less in comparison to the national average. This could be especially noteworthy for those that are looking to move into a city that will enable them to enjoy as much bang for their buck as possible.

While the quiet, unassuming nature of Rome is completely different than its original Italian counterpart, the two cities do share a common link. Back in 1928, the American Chatillion Company began building a rayon plant in Rome as part of a collaborative business effort with the Italian Chatilion Corporation. The new building's marble cornerstone was sent to new Rome from old Rome from Benito Mussolini. A year later, Mussolini again honored the new version of Rome by giving them a bronze replica of the sculpture of Romulus and Remus (old Rome's mythical founders) nursing from the Capitoline Wolf. The monument still stands in front of city hall to this day, even though anti-Italian sentiment during and after World War II did force the city to move it to storage from 1940 to 1952.

Rome and Home Care

Like the title of the service implies, the concept of home care is one in which special assistance or aid is administered to a senior by a professional caregiver within the confines of the golden ager's own home. The responsibilities of the caregiver include helping the senior with basic activities essential for day-to-day home life like picking up groceries and cooking meals. The caregiver is also responsible for administering aid on a more intimate level, like bathing or getting dressed. These dual functions collectively serve to give the golden ager receiving the aid a measure of independence along with their care, which is something that they may not experience while living in a senior living community.

Living Well in Rome

Having to decide on a measure of assisted living is undoubtedly a tough one to make. Yet they can be assured that there are plenty of home care options in Rome for them to consider. These are truly important services, and not just because they allow golden agers to experience the kind of aid that they need to get through each day without having to give up the security and safety of their home. These services also end up providing a level of comfort for the families of the golden age loved ones, as they can take comfort in knowing that the senior in their lives will be receiving high-quality care that is skilled, kind, and dignified.
