Since there is so much we are still learning about Alzheimer\u2019s Disease, it can sometimes feel that there\u2019s not much we can do to help in the fight. But one simple way to help is to participate in your local Walk to End Alzheimer\u2019s, an event that directly supports the Alzheimer\u2019s Association\u2019s initiatives of care, support, and research for the more than 5 million Americans living with the disease.<\/p>\n

The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer\u2019s<\/span><\/a><\/strong> is the world\u2019s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer\u2019s care, support and research. Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, this inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to reclaim the future for millions. Walk to End Alzheimer\u2019s unites the entire community \u2013family, friends, co-workers, social and religious groups and more \u2013 in a display of combined strength and dedication in the fight against this devastating disease.<\/p>\n

While there is no formal fee to enter, participants are asked to make a personal donation and commit to raising funds as a part of the walk. The Alzheimer\u2019s Association provides free, easy-to-use tools and staff support to help each participant reach their fundraising goal.<\/p>\n

Teams are also encouraged, whether from your family or corporation, and there are even \u201cnational teams\u201d that participate in walks across the country. Forming a team not only makes it easier to raise more funds for this great cause, but can help spread awareness of this disease that impacts not only the victim but his or her caregivers and family as well.<\/p>\n

The Alzheimer\u2019s Association has created a very useful site to help you get involved in the Walk to End Alzheimer\u2019s that includes links to your local walk, your local Alzheimer\u2019s Association chapter, information on starting a team, tools for fundraising and promotion, inspirational videos, and printable posters.\u00a0You can be a part of this worthwhile event by walking yourself, or donating online to a participant.<\/p>\n
