A splashy day at the Georgia Aquarium<\/h2>\n

One of Atlanta\u2019s top-rated attractions for kids and adults alike, the Georgia Aquarium features more than 10 million gallons of ocean and river habitat for animals from around the world. Flip over the dolphin show, look for clownfish and other tropical denizens in the coral reef display, and chill out with cold-water wildlife including beluga whales, African penguins, and sea otters.<\/p>\n

Apart from amazing animals and a full-service caf\u00e9 with menu options for kids and adults, the Georgia Aquarium offers a full range of accessibility options to accommodate visitors with mobility, visual, and hearing impairments. A downloadable photo guide can help kids on the autism spectrum get ready for their visit. The aquarium\u2019s downtown location makes it easy to get to on the M train from Decatur-area communities such as Clairmont Oaks.<\/p>\n

Creativity abounds at the Center for the Puppetry Arts<\/h2>\n

Another family favorite in the Big Peach is the Center for Puppetry Arts, a museum, performance space, and learning center where everyone is welcome to see a show, view the puppet collection, and learn to make and use puppets. There are all-ages shows, performances tailored to teen and adult audiences, and hands-on workshops for preschoolers, grownups, and everyone in between.<\/p>\n

Starting in 2015, the center will be an even bigger attraction. Renovations are underway to make room for the Jim Henson Collection, which will fill half the exhibit space in the newly redone museum. The Center for the Puppetry Arts is located in Midtown, convenient to Buckhead senior communities including Campbell-Stone Apartments and Calvin Court.<\/p>\n

A Big Day out at Six Flags over Georgia<\/h2>\n

Six Flags serves up theme park thrill rides with a side of waterpark fun, plus live shows, go kart racing, and karaoke. There\u2019s something for just about everyone, from mini-train tours of the park for little ones to fast-paced rollercoasters with triple loops, giant drops, and more for the adrenaline junkies in your family.<\/p>\n

The park offers more than a dozen dining options to keep your group happy and well-fed. And the park rents wheelchairs and electric scooters to keep everyone mobile. Equal Access Passes ensure that all visitors have access to rides and attractions.<\/p>\n

Six Flags is located on I-20 a few miles west of the Perimeter, making it easy to get to from anywhere in the metro area and especially from west-side senior communities such as the Atria Mabelton and Parkland Manor in Austell.<\/p>\n
